Super Duper Observations and Comments:
So glad to see that you're back- I've missed the superheroes.
Glad to be back! Though, sad to say, Matt and I do plan to announce an end date at some time this year. All fun things must come to an end!
HAHA, "Ask and you shall receive."
And that's no bull.
:resume pun mode:
Great to see you guys drawing again. But I must ask, why plan an end date?
don't announce an end! just go on hiatus again. that way die hard fans (not to be confused with Die Hard fans) can check back every day (rss is for chumps) in an eternal hope that some day, like arthur, you'll return. you'll be the jeff mangum of web comics.
Yeeaayyee! (running around in circles with glee) Your Back!
Brendan has a point, or you could fake your death and be a comic martyr. You'll sell more books but be inconvenienced with getting a new family and wearing a fake mustache.
hurrah! welcome back!
i think an end day is sad but everything has a sell by date, although the idea of heroes will never get old. you'd want it to go out well... just make a book damnit!... or a calendar? a 365 days heroes calendar...
Will the end consist of all the heroes finally making friends? 'Cause I might get all teary eyed if that's the case.
Netdruid - Matt and I just have other projects we'd like to move on to, and the only time we'd have to do them is spent making heroes. After 300+ heroes, it takes longer and longer to come up with a hero that feels both funny and unpredictable, with a power and description and additional note that live up to what we've done before, drawn in a unique style, etc. etc. It's still fun - it just takes way longer than it used to. And frankly, we'd rather go out while we still have material we're proud of rather than when we suddenly realize we've lost interest and have been squeezing out a dwindling trickle of half-assed heroes.
The site will of course remain, though it's focus will probably change into a museum of heroes, and we like the idea of a journal section where we can post about the illustration techniques we used, or the story behind other heroes, or even share some of the art people have sent us over the years. Plus, we plan to make more books, or like people have suggested, a calendar. So it's not an "end" perhaps as much as a "change".
Valid points and I can honor the desire to tackle other frontiers while being on top of your game. Though I will be among the masses that will miss what became a biweekly ritual of checking who is the Superest. I hope the end that will inevitably come is still a ways off yet.
WHOOOOHOOOOO
so good to see you guys are back, even if it's gonna end soon.
i would personally really like to see how you guys illustrated each one; they all look so damn cool.
Oh, thank goodness! You gents have returned just in time (like good heroes)!
Oh darn! And I was almost back to living a regular life again. Apparently it's actually been MORE THAN TWO DAYS since last I visited this horribly addictive place.. how about that? ..Now I'll propably be back at spending each day waiting in front of my computer while constantly refreshing my browser in anticipation... Thank you Superest, you'll be the death of me!
I'd love to see the series end with the first hero, so the entire thing would be circular. Hard to do, perhaps, but that would be perfect!
Maybe it is just me, but I don't get this joke. Could someone stoop to my level and explain it?
Glad to see you guys back again, but in the intervening months I always wondered who would kill major fatigue?
